Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

The ears, nose and throat are linked anatomically. It is therefore not uncommon to have conditions that affect two or more of these areas. Mr Simmons is skilled in assessing all of these areas to allow full understanding of your condition.

Ear Conditions

The ears are delicate and complex organs which are housed on either side of the base of your skull. They are concerned with both hearing and balance function.

Common ear conditions include Deafness, Dizziness, Tinnitus, Ear Pain, Ear Infections, Wet Ears, Diseases of the Eardrum and Ear wax.

Nose Conditions

It is difficult to diagnose many nasal conditions without inspecting the inside of the nasal cavities fully. Your nose can be examined in clinic with a fine bore endoscope, which allows good painless visualization of all the areas necessary to make a diagnosis.

Common nose conditions include Blocked Nose, Rhinitis, Nasal Allergy, Septal Deviation, Nasal Polyps, Septal Perforation Repair, Sinusitis, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), Balloon Sinuplasty, Snoring and Rhinophyma surgery.

Throat Conditions

The throat is concerned with breathing, swallowing and voice production. It is anatomically complex and a condition of one part of the throat may have repercussions for the other functions of the throat as well. Examination with a flexible fibreoptic telescope is possible in the clinic to allow good visualization of the various areas and can aid in the diagnosis of your condition.

Common throat conditions include Sore Throats/Tonsillitis, Lower Pain Coblation Tonsillectomy, Voice Disorders, Globus (feeling of a lump in the throat), Neck Lumps and Swallowing Problems.

Children's Ear Nose & Throat

It can be very upsetting for a parent to see their child in distress. Thankfully serious or sinister ENT conditions in children are rare. Having trained at The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Mr Simmons is very used to assessing children and putting both the child and parents at ease.

Common children's ent conditions include Hearing Problems, Ear Ache, Ear Infections, Blocked/ Runny Nose, Nasal Allergy, Sore throats / Tonsil and Adenoid Problems, Childhood Sleep Apnoea and Neck Lumps. Mr Simmons undertakes the new lower pain Coblation Tonsillectomy technique.
